EMILY (Koci) PALKA
Emily Caroline (Koci) Palka 94, Phillips, passed away peacefully in the Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2019.

For the past several years Emily was fighting Alzheimer’s Disease while being well cared for by the staff at Park Manor.

The youngest of 10 children, she was born in the town of Emery on May 25, 1925, to Frank and Anna Koci.

Emily lived in the Phillips area until she moved to Chicago in the mid 1940’s where she met Walter (Van) Palka. They were married in the United Methodist Church in Phillips on May 24, 1947.

While living in Chicago, they raised three sons. Emily was a homemaker and later worked at Sears and was also involved in local area civic events.

They lived there until they retired, and in 1992, they relocated to Phillips.

She was an active volunteer for the Phillips Czech Fest. In her free time, she enjoyed baking and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by husband Van in 2009.,

She is survived by 3 sons, Robert, Lewisville, TX, Charles, Chicago, IL and Thomas (Kimberly), Berwyn, IL and a sister, Julia Marik, Cicero, IL

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, Phillips, with Pastor Matthew Arneson officiating.
A luncheon will follow immediately, on the premises
