Emily Paukner, age 91, Tomahawk, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at Golden Living Center - Golden Age in Tomahawk.
Emily was born October 12, 1921 in Tomahawk, the daughter of Arthur and Alvina (Wolter) Pertmer. Emily graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1939, and worked as a secretary until 1946. On November 25, 1944, she married Max Paukner in Oshkosh, and they shared 57 years of marriage before his passing on June 20, 2002. Emily and Max enjoyed many happy years at their home on the Jersey Flowage, fishing, gardening, playing cards, sitting on their porch, and spending time with family and friends. Emily excelled at cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, and knitting, all of which she did with love for her family, friends, and charity. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk, where she spent many hours of volunteer work for the church, and belonged to the Prayer Shawl Knitting Group. She was also a member of the Tomahawk Historical Society.
Emily will be deeply missed by all of her loving family and friends.
Survivors include: children, Patricia (William) Walker, Iola, Mary (Henry) Moeschler, Mosinee, Gerald (Penny) Paukner, Tomahawk. Emily is further survived by seven grandchildren, Matthew (Elizabeth) Walker, Sarah Walker, Samantha (Jim) Fox, William Moeschler, Steven Paukner, Amy (Jose) Garcia, Theory (Dean) Nienow; five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband - Max, three brothers - Louis, Sam, and Albert Pertmer, and two sisters - Adolphina Pertmer and Rose Draeger.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Emily Paukner will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
