Erwin "Irv" Yockey, age 94, passed away April 27, 2008 at Golden Living Center - Golden Age in Tomahawk.
Irv was born March 4, 1914 in Milwaukee, the son of William and Emma (Dose) Yockey. He married Marian Urban on December 29, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa; she passed away in October 1989. In high school, Irv was the Milwaukee City Champion in tennis. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from June 1943 to September 1946. During WWII, he was stationed in the Philippines, earning the rank of 1st Lieutenant. As Master Sergeant, Irv was instrumental in the revitalization of the local Tomahawk National Guard Unit in 1950. He was employed with MT&W Railroad as a brakeman for 30 years. Irv was a former player and manager for the Tomahawk Cubs Baseball team and for the men's league Army National Guard team - the Tomahawk Tankers. He enjoyed watching and supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren in their sports activities.

1 daughter Karen (Dale) Arnott of Tomahawk
3 grandsons Tom (Ann) Arnott Dan (Kim) Arnott John (Karen) Arnott all of Tomahawk
Irv is further survived by 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife - Marian, 1 brother, 2 sisters, and granddaughter - Laura.
A Private Family Memorial Service for Irv Yockey will be held at a later date.
