Esther Louise Mikunda, 98, of Tomahawk, WI went home to her Lord and Savior Friday, September 27, 2024 at her home, surrounded by family. Esther was born March 16, 1926 in Ladysmith, WI, the daughter of Paul and Beata (Juergens) Woebbeking. She was united in marriage to Paul Mikunda on October 9, 1954 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Conrath, WI and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2016. Esther was a long-time employee at Ben Franklin where she retired in 1992. She was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church. Esther enjoyed many activities throughout her long life, but her foundation was always her strong faith and her love for her family. Esther was a friend to pretty much everyone she met. We will miss her stories of the good old days, her sense of humor, her laughter and her smile.
Surviving are her daughters, Joy (Gary) Beard, Cumming, GA; Laure Mikunda, Cumming, GA; son, Jack (Shannon) Mikunda, Tomahawk, WI; daughter-in-law, Kim Mikunda, Dillon, MT; grandchildren, Jerrod (Abbie), Jordan (Amber), and Kaycie; great-grandchildren, Evalynn, Wesley, Remy and Cayde; step-grandchildren and great grandchildren Tracy, Todd, Drew, Rachel, and Rebekah Gill; sister, Edna Gross, Green Bay, WI; brother, Raymond Woebbeking, Mondovi, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Paul Mikunda; son, Jeff Mikunda; parents Paul and Beata Woebbeking; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nora (Lloyd) Diedrich; Mildred (Roy) Weigert; Helen (Darel) Tiegs; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence (Leona “Onie”) Woebbeking; Gustave (Violet “Doris”) Woebbeking; Otto (Cleone) Woebbeking; brother-in-law, Gary Gross; sister-in-law, Doris Woebbeking.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Tomahawk, with Pastor Joel Danner officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to time of service at 11:00. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Ladysmith.
