ETHEL TEETERS
Ethel Augusta Johanna Teeters, 100, died in the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield on Thursday, October 31, 2019. She was born the 10th child of William Heinrich and Emilie Ottilie (Schoenborn) Neu at the family home in the Town of Emery on February 24, 1919. She was a 1938 graduate of the Phillips High School, and a graduate of the Price County Normal. She was married to Forrest Leslie “Bud” Teeters on June 19, 1942, at Saint John Lutheran Church in Phillips. She later attended the University of Wisconsin, Superior, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Ethel taught school from 1940 to 1984, teaching at the Crane Chase, Popple Hill, Miller Road, Dover, Upson, Johnson, and Phillips Elementary Schools. She was a member of the Saint John Lutheran Church of Phillips, of the Price County Retired Teachers Association, the Women of Saint John Lutheran Church, and the local chapter of AARP. She travelled extensively with the Peoples Bank bus tours out of Hayward, enjoyed gardening, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the family gatherings at the cabin, making her sheet cake sized apple pie.
She is survived by her three children, Terry Dale, Prentice, Judith Ione (Kenneth) Atchley, Lugerville, and Forrest Charles “Frosty” (Wendy), Park Falls; by nine grandchildren, Dale Forrest Teeters, Eau Claire, Dawn Marie (Tony) Derleth, Tomahawk, Brian Keith (Ellen) Teeters, Tomahawk, Steven Terry Teeters, Phillips, Scott Anthony Teeters, Deer Lodge, MT, Michael Duane (Michelle) Teeters, Rothschild, Mathew Ryan (Bethany) Teeters, Ishpeming, MI, Joshua John (Karlee) Teeters, Savage, MN, and Suzanne Marie (Peter) Schnoor, Duluth, MN; by 11 great grandchildren, Ella, Izzy, Cassell, Madilyn, Mikayla, Olivia, Scott, William, Rylee, Jack, Katie, plus one on the way; and by one sister, Florence. She was preceded in death by her husband, “Bud”, on January 16, 1978; by her parents; by one daughter-in-law, Judith Theresa (Janak) Teeters; by great granddaughter, Ryan Teeters; by twelve siblings, Alfred William Neu, Elsie Margaret Klitz, Clarence Royal Neu, Dorothy Ethel Oesterreich, Wesley Edward Neu, Emily Cecilia Stone, Mabel Helen Dernbach, Mildred Alma Beaumont, William Henry Neu, Friedriech John William Neu, Lester Donald Neu, and Daniel Edward Arthur Neu; by nephew Clarence “Bub” Neu; and nieces Nadine Marie Neu, Joanne (Oesterreich), Kirk, and Carol (Teeters) Voda.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 9, at Saint John Lutheran Church in Phillips with Pastor officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips
