Eugene “Jim” Witzeling, age 85, of Robinson Road in Tomahawk, passed away unexpectedly at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas.
Jim was born on January 3, 1931 in Edgar, WI to Fred and Margaret Witzeling. He married Mary Louise DeWitt on January 17, 1953 in Ottowa, Ohio. Jim was a proud Navy Veteran and had served in the Korean War. Jim co-owned and operated Modern Builders & Suppliers in Wausau for over 40 years. Together, Jim & Louise moved to Tomahawk full time in 1992. Jim was an avid golfer, but hunting was his passion. He was happiest in the woods at his cabin in New Wood. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the St. Joseph group.
Jim is survived by his wife, Louise, of Tomahawk; 5 children – Cindy (Steve) Manecke, Jodie (Perry) Kleinschmidt, Timothy (Sandy) Witzeling, Michael (Sue Petters) Witzeling, all of Wausau and Patrick (Stephanie Lichter) Witzeling, of Milwaukee. He is further survived by 2 brothers – Douglas Witzeling, of Madison & Claude (Jean) Witzeling, of Wausau; 10 Grandchildren & 3 Great Grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial with Military Rites for Jim Witzeling will take place at 12:00PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:00AM until the time of Mass at 12:00PM. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, in Wausau.
