Evelyn Doucette, age 85, a long-time Tomahawk resident, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in Peru, Illinois.
Evelyn was born April 11, 1928 in Tomahawk, the daughter of William and Irene (Martell) Steinbach. She married Norman Doucette on March 1, 1947 in Milwaukee; he passed away in 1977. Evelyn was a cook with the Tomahawk School District for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She loved cats and spending time with friends, and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tomahawk.
Survivors include: children, LeRoy (Catherine) Doucette, Portland, Maine, Marna (Steve Quessy) Doucette, Durham, North Carolina, Cheri (Bob) Blum Oglesby, Illinois; sister, Edith Wanie, West Salem, Wisconsin. Evelyn is further survived by two grandchildren, Jenny and William (fiancé Krissy Sauter) Blum, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, two brothers, and one sister.
Funeral Services for Evelyn Doucette will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Debra Hastings will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the hour of services at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow services at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.
