Evelyn Peter "Yiayia" "Evie" Fraggos Drivas, age 89, Tomahawk, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Golden Living Center - Golden Age in Tomahawk.
Yiayia was born December 23, 1921 in Mikromani, Greece, the oldest of six children born to Peter and Stavroula Fraggos. She married James John "Jimmy" Drivas on October 9, 1949 in Mikromani, Greece.
Yiayia graduated from the Kalamata Technical Institute in Greece, where she received a degree in sewing and fashion design. Following graduation, she was a dress designer and owned her own shop in Mikromani, Greece. Following her marriage to Jimmy, they moved to Wisconsin Rapids, where she continued to privately sew for people. Later she went to work with her husband at the Sugar Bowl Restaurant. Following the death of her husband, she moved to LaCrosse to be closer to her daughter, Georgia, and family. While living in LaCrosse, she worked at the Company Store and Charlotte's Bridal Shop. Following her retirement, she moved to Tomahawk to be closer to her daughter, Tula, and family.
Yiayia's favorite pastime was spending time with her greatly loved family - her daughters and their families. She made frequent trips to Greece to visit family and friends. She was an avid flower gardener and also loved to dance. She was an active member of St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church in LaCrosse, and a current member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Madison.

Yiayia is further survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends in both the United States and Greece. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband - Jimmy, two sisters - Penelope and Georgia, and two brothers - Kostantinos and Christos.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Golden Living Center - Golden Age, for all of their support and tender loving care given to our beloved mother and grandmother - Yiayia.
Funeral Services for Yiayia Drivas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 from St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids.
