FERNE KOCI
Ferne Mabel Koci, 89, Phillips, died in the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips on Sunday, April 5, 2015. She was born in Phillips on September 19, 1925, the daughter of Ernest and Clara (Dahlie) Ruka. She was a 1943 graduate of the Phillips High School, and then attended the Marvel School of Beauty Culture in Milwaukee. She worked as a Beautician in Milwaukee and later in Phillips. She was married to George Koci in the United Methodist Church in Phillips on June 2, 1945. They operated a dairy farm in the Town of emery for many years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Phillips, a Charter Member of the East Highland Homemakers, a Charter Member of the Happy Dancers Polka and Square Dancers Club, an 11th generation member of the Mayflower Society, and a member of Lady’s League Golf. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, snowmobiling, and was awarded the title of Champion Kolache Baker at the Czech fest.
She is survived by three children, Cydney (Michael) Krzeminski, Shawano, Catherine (Richard) Wagner, Port Washington, WI, and James William (Holli), Phillips; by four grandchildren, and by three great grandchildren. Her husband, George, preceded her in death on February 1, 2011; and by two brothers, Leonard and Lloyd Ruka.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the United Methodist Church in Phillips with Pastor Loretta Waughtal officiating. Inurnment will be in the Emery Cemetery in the Town of Emery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
