FLORENCE FUSAK
Florence L. Fusak, 92, Phillips, Town of Emery, died in the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips on Wednesday, June 10, 2015. She was born on February 4, 1923, in the Town of Emery, the daughter of Frank and Hulda (Stanke) Plyer. She attended the Dover State Graded School for 8 years, and was a 1940 graduate of the Phillips High School. She was married to John Fusak in Phillips on May 31, 1941. They opened Fusak’s Tavern in 1951, and Florence continued operating the business for 60 years until the time of her retirement in 2011. She was a member of Saint John Lutheran Church of Phillips. She was instrumental in forming the Girls Softball League in Price County, and was a member of the East Highland Homemakers for many years. The homes of many of her friends and relatives are decorated with items that she made, and for many years she crafted bouquets and wreaths, which were used to memorialize and adorn the graves at local cemeteries.
She is survived by one son, Jerry (the late Janet), Lake Tomahawk, WI; by one daughter in law, Phyllis Fusak, Phillips; by 6 grandchildren, by numerous great grandchildren; and by one great great granddaughter; by one brother, Larry (Janet) Plyer , Phillips; and by three sisters, Lorraine Asquith, Kent, WA, Shirley (Jim) Chizek, Lodi, WI, and Barbara (Syl) Hraban, Minocqua, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, on April 30, 1986; by one son, John Alan; and by one brother, Frank Plyer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 13, at Saint John Lutheran Church in Phillips with Reverent Thomas Reiff officiating. Friends may call at the Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips on Friday, June 12, after 5:00 P.M. and on Saturday, June 13, at St. John Lutheran Church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
