Gabriel Rocco Coconate, age 71, of Minocqua, died unexpectedly at deer camp on Saturday, Nov 12. Gabe was born in Milwaukee, the son of Rocco and Louise (nee Porcaro) Coconate. He married Mary Radoszewski in 1963. His trade of being an electrician brought him “up north” to raise his family and start Lakeland Electrical Contractors. In the early 80’s he opened and ran the Landmark Bar in downtown Minocqua and retired in 1995. His love of sausage making prompted him to start Gabe’s Sausage Kitchen in Woodruff.. He enjoyed the outdoors- hunting, fishing, mushroom picking, cooking/eating Italian food and spending time at Saxon Harbor in his RV. He escaped to Florida in the cold winter months. He was an active member of the Minocqua Lions Club.
He is survived by his children Tony (Heather), Colleen (Tim) Krolczyk, Michael, and Gina (Howard) Davis. Sisters, Grace Budish and Diane (Bob) Blenski. Granddaughters, Angela,Melanie, Sevi, Riley, Macy and Mia. His special friend Bobi Massari and his four legged buddy Co. Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and many, many friends too numerous to mention
Gabe was preceded in death by his father, mother, sisters Marilyn and Joanne and grandson Jason.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, WI. followed by Funeral Service at 6:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the National MS Society.
