Gary L. Baier, age 69, 9378 Norway Lane, Tomahawk, died on Sunday, December 15, 2013 in Eau Claire. Gary was born August 25, 1944 in Oshkosh, the son of Dorothy Baier.
Gary served in the U.S. Army from 1962 - 1964. He married Carol Duellman on February 27, 1965 in Oshkosh. Gary formerly sold chainsaws for 18 years, first for Stihl, and then for Jonsered. Gary was an advocate of people's rights. He served on the Oneida County Board since 1999, representing District 20, which includes the Town of Little Rice, and Wards 1 & 2 in the Town of Nokomis. He also formerly served on the Tomahawk School Board, and served on the Nokomis Town Board for 16 years, 14 of which he served as Chairman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being a grandpa. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk.
Survivors include: wife, Carol Baier, Tomahawk; children, Kevin (Teresa) Baier, Hudson, Kelly (Jeff) Carter, Hastings, Minnesota, Keary (John) Bugher, Eau Claire; sisters, Shirley (Harry) Kluge, Oshkosh, Bunnie (Jerry) Lenz, Oshkosh; brother, Mike (Debbie) Sitter, Wisconsin Rapids. Gary is further survived by six grandchildren - Katelyn, Shannon, Emma, Amelia, Olivia, and Blake.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors for Gary Baier will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Krueger Family Funeral Home in Tomahawk. Father John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the hour of services at 1:00 PM.
