GARY STEVENS
Gary Steven’s life journey was completed on February 16, 2018. He courageously lived with cancer for the past 3 years. He was born in Woodstock, IL, on June 12, 1952 to the late Ernest and Lillian (Ericksen) Stevens. He graduated from Hebron High School in 1970.
Gary was employed as a metal fabricator in Woodstock, IL, before moving to Phillips, WI in 1979. Gary then worked for I.A.P. in Phillips, WI, until his retirement in 2015.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman who loved hinting, fishing, and camping. He loved the gifts that the “Northwoods” offered him; watching deer feed on his property, enjoying the presence of hummingbirds throughout the Summer months, campfires in his yard, which he took great pride in caring for, and just sitting on the porch taking in the beauty of nature. He cherished his camping trips to Lake Gogebic. Those trips became some of his favorite and most memorable times.
Diane Eichmann. Gary’s “angel” and soul mate, was by his side through all the challenges that came with his cancer. Diane’s love and support made Gary very happy.
Gary is survived by five siblings; Janice (Steve) Redding, Harvard, Il, Marlene (Milton) Stroup, Cape Vincent, NY, Beverly (Charlie) Froehlich, Beloit, WI, Daine (Dan) Ottesen, Chilton, WI, and Don (Lisa) Stevens, Beloit, WI, his mother-in-law, Jean Calvert, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patti, his parents, his brother Ernie, and his sister, Barbara Coe Wells.
A memorial service celebrating Gary’s life will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 1:00 P.M. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 276 S. 5th Avenue, Park Falls, WI with Chaplain Randy Van De Loo officiating. Family and friends may call at the church from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
Gary’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Park Manor of Park Falls, WI, for the excellent care given to him during this past year. The services provided at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, WI, the Marshfield Clinic, and Hope Lodge will always be appreciated by Gary’s loved ones. The Flambeau Home Health and Hospice of Phillips “walked the walk” with Gary and Diane through the last months of his illness. Diane will be forever grateful.
The family requests that memorial gifts be sent to Flambeau Home Health and Hospice, 133 North Lake Avenue, Phillips, WI 54555
