At her cherished home - surrounded by her children, Genevieve Mary (Tierney) Petta at the age of 88, entered into eternity. She was born March 2, 1921 in her Grandpa and Grandma VanderVoort's farmhouse in Harrison. As a child she enjoyed tubby-gutting the Harrison hills. She married the love of her life, Alfred Frank Petta. They delighted in dancing together to big band music. After her husband, at the age 48, passed away she raised their four youngest children with the invaluable help of her beloved mother. She often spoke of the kindness of her employers: Janke's Bakery, Tom Nash's LP, Nick & Sons Furniture and Casket Factory, and the City of Tomahawk where she retired from the Deputy Clerk position. She was an adventuresome berry picker who canned the fruits of her labor. True to her Dutch heritage she had a green thumb and adored flowers, especially growing African violets. She also treasured and maintained many precious childhood friendships. But most of all she was filled with pride, love, and prayers for her family. Now grieving her death, yet celebrating her life are her children: Kathleen (Petta) Moore, Thomas Petta (Brenda), Alfred Petta, and Donald Petta (Beverly); her grandchildren: Susan and Debra, Beth and Bryant, Rachelle and John, Heather and Peter, Phil and Ben and Amanda; and her great grandchildren: Matt and Dan, Maura and Murphy, Chloe and Evan, Corrita and Marshal, Stone and Laynie, Harleigh and Gunnar, Riah and Averi, Madison, and Kalley. Entering eternity before her were: father John, mother Bertha, brother Daniel, brother John, daughter Joan, granddaughter Crystal. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00p.m. Monday, May 18th at Saint Mary's Catholic Church. The family will welcome friends at the Corpus Christi Center from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Memorial donations are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
