GEORGE SORENSEN
George Charles Sorensen, 62, Town of Spirit, Ogema, died in the Saint Joseph Hospital in Marshfield on Monday, April 4, 2016. He was born on August 11, 1953, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, the son of Allen and Marie Sorensen. He was married to Laura Polansky in Markham, Illinois, on April 26, 1991. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for firms based in Illinois and Wisconsin, and in latter years as a truck driver for Weather Shield Manufacturing INC of Medford. In his years of trucking he was awarded many safe driving awards. In his free time he enjoyed his animals, especially his dogs and horse, and he enjoyed the outdoors, planting trees, enjoying the woods, and developing his property.
He is survived by his wife, Laura; by four children, Jeremy (Lauren) Adema, Tampa, FL, Michael (Megan Dickey) Polansky, Aurora, IL, Mell (Ted Retzlaff) Polansky, Catawba, and Peter (Krista) Polansky, Prentice; by two grandsons, George and Gavin; by four brothers, Bobby, Tommy, Ricky, and Paul; and by one sister, Theresa. He is preceded in death by one brother, Allen.
Memorial services will be held at the Spirit Baptist Church in Spirit at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 9, with Pastor Duane Harper officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.
