George B. Martin, age 81, N11882 Deer Lake Rd., Tomahawk, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011 at his residence under home hospice care.
George was born May 2, 1930 in Stevens Point, the son of Kenneth and Eva Martin. He married Sharon Kilinski on January 8, 1972. George served four years in the U.S. Marine Corp as an infantryman. He was a well-known contractor in the Tomahawk area, and also ran Phil's Supper Club for eight years. George was an avid wood-carver, and enjoyed carving images of local wildlife - most notably the bald eagle. He also had a special love for the local community, and was involved in several community projects, including the development of the Sara Park Community Center; where he formerly coached youth hockey for many years. George was also an avid flower gardener. His gardens were admired by many friends, neighbors, and Sunday drivers.

George is further survived by his grandson - Luke George Martin, and "adopted" son & daughter Mitch and Mary Bayer. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters - Ethel Frahm and Charlotte Sawdy.
A Memorial Mass with Veteran Tribute for George Martin will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. Edward Powell will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 12:00 noon.
