GERALD BLUEMEL
Gerald (Bud) Bluemel, age 84, passed away at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on December 18, 2015, due to complications following a car accident. He was born on September 29, 1931, to Paul and Rose (Kernler) in Glidden, WI. He attended the Catholic School and graduated from Glidden High School in 1950. On April 21, 1954, he volunteered for the draft into Korean War and served two years in the United States Army.
On October 10, 1959, he was united in marriage to Kathy Lucas. Bud worked for Louisiana-Pacific Corporation for 42 years, and he retired in 1994. He and Kathy resided in Mellen until 2008, when they moved to Philips. There he was blessed with many friends and good neighbors, and he spent many happy hours at his favorite restaurant, the Freight House. Bud was known for his jokes and antics, and he was loved by many.
He will be sadly missed by his four children, Brenda (Dave) Halambeck of Wausau, Gary Bluemel of Ashland, Paula (John) Maurer of Flushing, and Keith (Tara) Bluemel of Mosinee. He had 14 grandchildren, Lacie Ketelhut, Holly Johnson, Kara Wasieleski, Hannah Halambeck, Heather Maurer, Jared Halambeck, Jay Maurer, Bryan Halambeck, Luke Maurer, Andrew Bluemel, Eli Maurer, Sydney Maurer, Matthew Bluemel, and Ivy Maurer. He also had five great-grandchildren; Kayla Ketelhut, Evan Ketelhut, Isla Johnson, Bentley Wasieleski, and Elliana Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 50 years, and four granddaughters - Haley Maurer, Brooke Bluemel, Eve (Maggie) Bluemel, and Mallory Maurer.
A memorial service will be held AT 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2 at Saint Therese of Lisieux Church in Phillips with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
