Gerald E. Schmeiser

Gerald “Jerry” Schmeiser, was called on February 1, 2025, to play in the Main Event. Jerry was born on the 26th day of July 1942. The son of George and Leona Schmeiser of Sheboygan, WI. He spent his early years in Sheboygan, graduating from North High School. Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in Oct. 1959. He spent the next 23 years fulfilling his dream...MARINING. Jerry was lucky enough to go to the Cuban Missile Crisis, 2 trips to Vietnam and a few nice years in Hawaii and Washington. He married the love of his life Susan Pfrang on March 5, 1965. Upon retirement in 1983, Jerry and his wife Susan purchased Soo Lake Resort and Campground in Phillips, WI, which for the next 20 years was called home. In 2004 the Resort was sold and the Schmeiser’s went into full retirement. In Jerry’s younger years he loved to hunt and fish, play ball, and go to Packer games. As the years passed, more joy was received watching the animals and just being on the water. He loved playing cards, Poker, and Sheepshead. He wasn’t very good at Poker but loved to bluff. Jerry was a lifetime member of the Washington Elks since 1968, a lifetime member of the VFW, lifetime member of DAV, Price County Tavern League since 1984 and various Snowmobile Clubs in Price County. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Leona Schmeiser, his brother Kermit of Oak Creek, his younger brother Richard of Sheboygan, his older sister Gloria “111” of Sheboygan, His sister and brother-in-law Yvonne and Harold. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Susan, his oldest son Scott (Monica) of Seattle, WA, his younger son Stacy of Phoenix, AZ and very very special grandson Schrader of Phoenix, AZ, special sister-in-law Sheryl of Sheboygan, and sister-in-law Ginny of Oak Creek, his special friends Pam and Miles, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

A Memorial Gathering will be held on February 28, 2025, at 11:00 am at Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home in Phillips, WI. A Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home.

Internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
