GUST E. KALANDER
Gust E. “Sonny” Kalander, 77, Town of Prentice, died on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at his home after a short illness.
He was born on October 29, 1938, the son of Gust and Margaret (Tesch) Kalander. He spent his entire life in the Prentice area.
He was married to Shirley Monell on November 6, 1965 in Prentice. He started his working career for the Cranberry Lake Corporation in Phillips, worked with his father on road construction, then at Omark Industires in Prentice, then completed his career in road construction as a heavy equipment operator until the time of his retirement.
He was a member of Local 139 Operating Engineers of Wisconsin.
In his free time he enjoyed operating heavy equipment especially his bulldozer, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends socializing.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Shirley, Town of Prentice, by his 3 children: Kim Koch, Todd (Nikki) and Jeff (Jenifer) all of Prentice, 4 grandchildren: Derek and Kaitlin Koch and Alisha and Alayna Kalander, by 6 sisters: Dorothy Pisca, Betty (Warren, Sr.) Carlson and Sharon (Bruce) Jilka, all of Prentice, Joanne Johnson, Grafton, Wi., Helen Best, Park Falls and Margaret Schumacker, Chicago, Ill., by 3 brothers: Jack (Diane), Clarence (Nancy) and Bud (Edith) all of Prentice
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, Prentice, with Pastor Neil Schindler and Pastor Ralph Miller officiating.
Friends may call on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, Prentice from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Prentice is in charge of the arrangements.
