Harold F. "Toastie" Burton, age 89, of 315 Putnam St., Tomahawk, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Golden Living Center-Golden Age in Tomahawk. He was born April 1, 1920 in Tomahawk. Toastie was a 1938 Graduate of Tomahawk High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was married to Louise Dehlinger on November 21, 1940 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomahawk; she survives. Toastie worked for many years as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Musson Brothers in Rhinelander. He spent many years in county and city government. He served 2 terms as the Mayor of Tomahawk. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and the American Legion. He also served in the National Guard. Toastie enjoyed time spent hunting and fishing with his friends and family. Survivors include his Wife, Louise Burton of Tomahawk, 5 Children, Linda Burton of Tomahawk, Charles Burton of Tonapah, AZ, Mary (Tom) Hageny of Rhinelander, Francis Burton of Germantown, WI, and Kevin Burton of Plymouth, MN. He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Teena (Mark) Novotny, Rick and Tiffany Burton, Chad and Gary Burton, Matt and Tara Hageny, and Peter and Maria Burton. Toastie is further survived by his Great Grandchildren, Sydney, Mason, and Wesley. He was preceded in death by his Father, Frank Burton, his Mother and Step-Father, Emma and Charlie Musson, 1 Son, Gary Burton, a Brother, Donald, and a Sister, Dorothy. Mass of Christian Burial for Harold "Toastie" Burton will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 11 AM from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Rev. John Anderson will officiate with interment at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 1 from 4 PM until 6 PM at the Krueger & Sons Funeral Home. A Military tribute service will take place at the funeral home on Monday at 5:30 PM, immediately followed by a Scripture Service. Visitation continues on Tuesday at the church from 10 AM until the hour of Mass at 11.
