Harold D. DeHart, age 81, of W5565 DeHart Dr., Tomahawk passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at his home under the loving care of his devoted wife, Caren, & the angels of Loving Touch Home Care.
Harold was born on January 16, 1932 in Glenview, Illinois to Delmar and Mildred (Maddix) DeHart. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1951. After High School he served two years in the US Army being stationed in Kansas and Korea. He was married on April 26, 1953 to the late Virginia M. Etrick. He later married Caren E. Funk on December 12, 1980 in Wausau, Wisconsin, she survives. Harold moved to Tomahawk in 1955 and established the Northern View Mink Farm with his father. Harold ran the mink farm until his retirement in 2003. While in the mink business Harold was the founder and President of the American Fur Farm Animal Welfare Coalition and a founding member of the United Feeds Corporation.
Survivors include, wife, Caren DeHart, Tomahawk, daughter, Paula (Jeff Erickson) DeHart, Stevens Point, son, Ken (Lori) DeHart, Tomahawk, 5 grandchildren, Heather (Elijah Beuhl) DeHart, Madison, James DeHart, Stevens Point, Taylor DeHart, Wausau, Haydn Funk, Washburn, Ellyn Funk, Washburn. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard, and a step son, Tim Funk.
Funeral Services for Harold DeHart will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 in Keosauqua, Iowa. Locally, a Celebration of Harold's Life will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the Pine Tree Supper Club. Friends and family will gather at 3:00 p.m. with a sharing of memories at 4:00 p.m., Sunday at the Pine Tree. Dinner will follow. Krueger Family Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials are appreciated to the Alzheimer's Association.
