Harold E. Van Ryen, age 75, 1438 Wheeler Road, Tomahawk, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Golden Living center - Riverview in Tomahawk. Harold was born August 10, 1935 in Tomahawk, the son of Mike and Gertrude (Rautz) Van Ryen. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1954 - 1956. He married Beatrice Hauser on July 5, 1958 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Madison. Harold was a Motor Vehicle Drivers' Examiner in Madison for 32 years, retiring in 1996. Following his retirement, he and Bea moved back to the Tomahawk area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, bowling, traveling, and especially spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion Bronstead Searl Post #93, the American Veterans, St. Mary Catholic Church, and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. Survivors include: Wife Bea Van Ryen Tomahawk Son Ronald Van Ryen Eau Claire Daughters Karen (Steve) Montoya Colorado Springs, Colorado Annette (Jay) Arce Richfield, Minnesota Sisters Marian Weber Sun Prairie Margaret (Robert) Furan Muncie, Indiana Dorothy Hanna Mount Horeb Harold is further survived by 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter - Grace. A Mass of Christian Burial for Harold Van Ryen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Memorials are appreciated to the St. Mary's School Legacy Fund.
