Helen Hanson

Helen Hanson, age 90, Tomahawk, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at Golden Living Center - Golden Age in Tomahawk. Helen was born May 8, 1923 in Wisson, Mississippi, the daughter of Frank and Loretta (Ray) Rice. She married Albert Hanson on March 15, 1944 in Fort Knox, Kentucky; he passed away on June 22, 2012. Helen and Albert moved to Tomahawk in 1946. She was employed as a server with the Tomahawk School District Hot Lunch Program, and worked at both the Whittier School and Tomahawk High School. Helen was a people person and made friends easily. She enjoyed traveling back to Mississippi to visit her family, and was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Tomahawk. Survivors include: children, Susan (Richard) Hoppe, Oshkosh, Alan Hanson, Tomahawk, James 'Pete' Hanson, Merrill, Helen is further survived by three grandchildren - Shane Hanson, Laura and Eric Hoppe. Funeral Services for Helen Hanson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Tomahawk. Pastor Debra Hastings will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Memorials are appreciated to the United Methodist Church in Tomahawk, or the charity of your choice.
