HELEN KING
Helen Mary King was born in Webster, Wisconsin, to Arthur and Mable Ann (Curwick) King on June 25, 1930. She attended The University of Wisconsin-Superior where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. After graduation she taught Elementary Education in Parochial schools in Superior, New Richmond, River Falls, and then Glenwood City. She then worked for and with Father John P. Slowey as housekeeper, secretary, and Parish worker. She served the Diocese of Superior for 10 years as Assistant director of Lay Ministries. She retired to Phillips where she was instrumental in establishing the St. Vincent de Paul Society to help needy families, and was active with the Koinonia Retreat Community, and was active with the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She was a member of Saint Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church. In her free time she enjoyed reading and watching the Green Bay Packers..
She is survived by one brother, Stephen (Jan) King, Barstow, California. She is preceded in death by brothers Bernard, Kenneth, Donald, and James King; and by three sisters, Irene Reinardy, Lenora Renos, and Sister Lucille CSJ.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 23, at Saint Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Phillips with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in the Saint Patrick Cemetery in Phillips. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
