Helen Reese

Helen Reese, age 85, 620 Charles Ave., Tomahawk, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at her residence under the care of Ministry Home Hospice Care. Helen was born January 2, 1929 in Chicago, the daughter of Alphonse and Eleanor (Ament) Van Strydonk. She married Ernest 'Ernie' Reese on August 23, 1975 in Joliet, Illinois. Helen owned and operated various businesses across the United States. She and Ernie moved from New Mexico back to Tomahawk thirteen years ago. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk, and enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and shopping. Survivors include: husband, Ernie Reese, Tomahawk; son, Lester (Sandra) Louzon; Colorado Spring, Colorado; daughters, Gail Cleveland, Tomahawk, Linda (Alex) Kearn, Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; step children, Donna (Mallie) Landers, Terra Haute, Indiana, Evelyn Bailey, Florida; brothers, Roger (Joyce) Van Strydonk, Tomahawk, Ervin (Jean) Van Strydonk, Tomahawk; sister, Delores DuPlayee, Tomahawk. Helen is further survived by eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son - Ronald Louzon, brother - Richard Van Strydonk, and sisters - Romain Morren and Phyllis Stillman. A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen Reese will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 11, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Father John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of Mass at 12:00 noon. Burial will be at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Harrison.
