Helen W. Supple died on October 16, 2007 at her residence in Tomahawk, Wisconsin where she made her home with her son, Tom Supple. She was born in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Jessie (Scherer) and Edson Stubbs, on Feb. 11, 1923.
She attended schools in Fond du Lac and graduated from L. P. Goodrich High School, class of 1940.
She was a telephone operator until her marriage to Fred W. Supple on September 3, 1943. She and her husband were dairy farmers south of Fond du Lac, retiring in 1979. Her beloved husband Fred died in Feb. 1992. She loved her family and the farms, was a 4-H Leader and enjoyed sturgeon spearing on Lake Winnebago. She and Fred also spent time in the Northwoods, fishing and hunting at their cabin in Manitowish Waters, WI.
Helen worked for Wis. Bell Telephone for 20 years, retiring as Supervisor Clerical in the Engineering Department in 1982. She then worked as a Ward Clerk at Manor Care Nursing Home, a secretary in the Recreation Dept. for the Fond du Lac School District, then transferring as a secretary to the Pupil Services Dept. for 10 years, retiring in 1998.
She enjoyed dancing, swimming, fishing, playing cards and sturgeon spearing. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
After retiring to Tomahawk, WI, she was a Puppeteer for the "Kids on the Block" in the CESA #9 schools in the Northern School areas for 5 years.
Helen is survived by her sons, Robert F. Supple of Fort Collins, Colorado, James M. (Patti Sue) Supple of Fond du Lac, and Tom D. Supple of Tomahawk, WI., six grandchildren, Mark J. Supple, Matthew J. (Jennifer) Supple, Kim (Robb) Duveneck, David J. (Tammy) Supple, Steven E. (special friend Emily Braun) Supple, all of Fond du Lac, and Michael P. Supple of Lackland AFB, Texas and four great-grandchildren, Madison, Caden, Trevin and Logan Supple. She is further survived by two brothers, Robert J. (Bert) Stubbs of Nevis, Minnesota and Larry G. (Georgene) Stubbs of Mt. Calvary, a brother-in-law, John Hobbs of Fond du Lac and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, her parents, and a sister, Lois E. Hobbs.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Ledgeview Memorial Chapel.
