Hugo B. Rooni, age 83, a lifelong resident of Brantwood, Wisconsin passed away, Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Golden Living Center in Rib Lake, Wisconsin. Hugo was born on February 3, 1926 in Brantwood to Theodore and Hilda (Lampi) Rooni. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was united in marriage in July of 1964 to Marie Majerus, she passed away in 1992. Hugo was a heavy equipment operator and logger for Heikkinen Brothers Forest and Dairy Company for over 40 years. He enjoyed watching all sports and was very active in the Finnish support community. Friends and family were extremely important to Hugo, especially his grandchildren. He was very kind hearted and generous. Hugo was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Brantwood. Survivors include: 5 Sons: James (Kate) Rooni Austin, TX Jerry Rooni Brantwood, WI Thomas Lokken Phillips David (Margaret) Lokken Park Falls Sidney (Sandra) Lokken Tomahawk 1 Daughter, Susan (Steve) Hinsa Tomahawk 1 Sister, Alice Pockat Tomahawk Hugo is further survived by 13 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marie. Funeral Services for Hugo Rooni will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from the Krueger & Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Sandra Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Tomahawk. The family will receive friends at the Krueger & Sons Funeral Home Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00.
