Irene A. Farmer, age 54, N10211 Cty. Rd. H, Tomahawk, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau.
Irene was born October 5, 1955 in Tomahawk, the daughter of Hans and Helen VanderVoort. She was raised in the Tomahawk area, and was a graduate of Tomahawk High School and UW - Stevens Point, where she received a degree in dietetics. Irene then took employment with a Ladysmith Nursing Home. Later, she was employed as a dietician for Sacred Heart Hospital and was also in Food Service Management for both Sacred Heart and St. Mary's Hospitals in Tomahawk and Rhinelander. Irene was also employed as a substitute rural mail carrier and worked part-time for the Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce. She was united in marriage to Lester Farmer on May 22, 1999 in Tomahawk. Irene enjoyed bowling, arts & crafts, flower gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Irene is further survived by a niece, 4 nephews, and a strong circle of friends. She was preceded in death by her father.
A Memorial Mass for Irene Farmer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009 from St. Augustine Catholic Church in Harrison. Fr. Ron Serrao will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m.
