ISABELLE SPIRES
Isabelle Grace Spires entered eternal life into the arms of Jesus peacefully at home, with the help of Flambeau Home Health and Hospice surrounded by loving family and close friends at 4:50 A.M. on November 13, 2016.. She was born in Belmont, NY, June 14, 1925, the daughter of Ella (Santamore) and John Buska.
She married Franklin Spires in 1953 and raised her family in Granitville, VT. In 1963 they moved to Ypsilanti, MI. She was employed by the Chrysler Corporation in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from 1969 until the time of her retirement in 1981. At the time of their retirement Isabelle and Franklin made their home in Catawba.. She was a proud member of the UAW and of the Democratic Party. Her hobbies included crocheting and enjoying her 139 grand, great grand and great great grandchildren!
She is survived by Shade Simpkins (son-in-law), Belleville, MI, Monica Johnson, Ogema, WI, Peter (Terri) Spires, Parkville, MO, Kathleen Spires, Bellville, MI, Rebecca May, Prentice, WI, Paul Spires, Braydenton, FL, and Connie Guzinski, Catawba; by 139 grandchildren; by sisters Joyce White and Delia Nissan; and by many nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin, on January 24, 2000; by two daughters, Jacqueline Simpkins and Melinda Spires; by sons Fredrick La Pan III, Maurice La Pan, and Christopher La Pan; by one son-in-law, Gerald Johnson; by 11 loving brothers and sisters, and by many nieces and nephews who truly loved her.
A special Thanks goes out to Thomas and James Guzinski, Jessie Bergquist, Steven May, and Doctor Moldzy for the help in the last days of her life!
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, November 24th at 5:00 P.M. at the Ogema Library. All are welcome.
