Jack Lietz

Jack R. Lietz, 85, of N10648 County Road D, Tomahawk, passed away peacefully Friday, July 6, 2012 at his home under the care of Ministry Home Care-Hospice. Jack was born on March 27, 1927 in Mosinee to John and Camilla (Yirkovsky) Lietz. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during both World War II and the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Patricia Rassel on July 18, 1953 at the Great Lakes Naval Base. Jack had a rich employment history. One of his early jobs was as the manager of Deer Trail Lodge on Lake Nokomis, he also worked as a private investigator in New York City, and had been employed by Union Carbide for many years as a salesman. Later he served as General Manager and personnel director at Friendly Village/Peterson Health Care in Rhinelander. He retired in 1985. Jack also enjoyed farming, cooking, horse shows, and had raced in the 1st World Championship snowmobile derby at Eagle River. He was a huge packer fan and had installed the first heated player's benches in Lambeau Field. Jack also enjoyed woodworking and had done projects for many area churches. Survivors include: Wife, Pat 5 Children, Elizabeth Lietz Minneapolis, MN John (Femke) Lietz Bend, OR Ann (Pete) Pintens Tomahawk, WI Dr. Charles (Lorrie Ann) Lietz West Olive, MI Susan Lietz New York, NY Jack is further survived by 19 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Scott, and 4 sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., from St. Augustine Catholic Church in Harrison. Fr. Ron Serrao and Fr. Ron Smith will concelebrate the Mass. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Krueger Family Funeral Home Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 4 until 8 p.m. with a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. The visitation continues at the church Friday morning from 10 am until the time of mass.
