Jack E. Thayer, age 74, 414 Pine Ridge Lane, Tomahawk, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012 at his residence under Ministry Home Hospice Care.
Jack was born August 18, 1938 in Merrill, the son of Julius and Cecelia (Buschmann) Thayer. He married Julie L'Abbe on May 22, 1980 in Tomahawk. In his early years, Jack worked for his dad at Thayer Sand & Gravel. He later worked for J.P. Schmit as a pulp truck driver, and for the Town of Bradley Green Box Recycling Center, and also worked for PCA Tomahawk Mill as a logger for 10 years. He then began Tomahawk Logging, Inc., which he owned and operated for 25 years. Jack was a member of the National Guard and a long-time member of the Tomahawk Lions Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and shooting pool in local leagues. He was an avid Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers fan.

Jack is further survived by 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jack Thayer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m.
