James S. Genelin, age 88, of Tomahawk, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 23, 2022.
Jim was born on February 8, 1934 in Cleveland, MN to Aloysius & Gertrude (Blaschko) Genelin. He was married to Patricia Kopp on August 23, 1954 in Marysburg, MN. Jim & Pat made their home in Tomahawk. Jim managed Lampert Yards, formerly Raymond Lumber, in 1970. In 1988, Jim started Industrial Packaging Corporation with his son, Mike, in Tomahawk. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest love was woodworking. Jim was a member of Knights of Columbus and the Tomahawk Optimist Club. He was also an integral part of writing the Tomahawk building codes and served on the board of appeals. Jim was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church and cherished the time he spent with his family.
Jim is survived by his children – Tony (Diane) Genelin of LaCrosse, Mike Genelin of Tomahawk, Mary (Jeff Pagel) Hardel of Wausau, Peggy (Rich) Johnson of Wausau, Brian (Diana) Genelin of Arcadia & Jeff (Dawn) Genelin of Tomahawk. He is further survived by 20 grandchildren - Anthony, Kelly, Kaitlyn, Andrew, Kali, Britt, Beau (Sarah), Mike (Khadija), Rachael, Matt, Molly, Jamie (Brad), Justin (Devon), Jenna (Mike), Luke, Elise, Alonzo, Xavier, Corinn, and Ella. There are also 11 great grandchildren surviving - Sebastian, Lila, Louie, Bashir, Aliya, Marcus, Jaxson, Kamden, Jordyn, Jaiden, and Jace. He is also survived by a sister – Trudy Eisenhauer of St. Peter, MN and a brother – Ted (Joan) Genelin of Mankato and many nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, wife- Pat, son – Kevin, and sisters – Marge Baker & Ruth LeBrun.
The Memorial Mass for Jim Genelin will take place at 11:00AM on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Fr. Louis Maram Reddy will officiate. Visitation will take place from 4:00PM until 7:00PM on Friday, December 2 at Krueger Family Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 10:00AM until the time of Mass at 11:00AM.
Memorials may be made in Jim’s name to St. Mary Catholic School.
