James Graettinger

James 'Jim' Graettinger, 84, 15 W. Rice Ave., Tomahawk, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Jim was born April 17, 1928 in Marshfield, the son of Alois and Theresa (Schroeder) Graettinger. He married Jenny Hager on October 11, 1952 in Arlington, Virginia. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force Reserves, and served in Japan during World War II. In 1952, he went to work for Wisconsin Public Service in Wausau. He transferred to Tomahawk in 1960, and retired in 1990 as the manager of Tomahawk branch. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the American Legion and VFW in Tomahawk. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, playing cribbage, going for pontoon rides, and watching old westerns on TV. Jim was an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan, and more than anything, loved his family. Survivors include, wife of 60 years, Jenny Graettinger, Tomahawk Children, Chris (Jerry) Luedke, Tomahawk, Cathy (James) Nunn, Munster, Indiana, Connie Graettinger, San Francisco, California, John (Mary) Graettinger, Rhinelander, Chuck Graettinger, Maine, Jan (Tony) Zblewski, Plover, Julie (Jim) Graeber, Tomahawk Sisters, Shirley Buffington, Marshfield, Betty Borisch, Oshkosh, Audrey Trudeau, Marshfield Jim is further survived by eleven grandchildren: Celesté, Jimmy (Keely), Claire (Casey), Sarah, JoAnne, Rachel, Emma, Susie, Hailey, Alex, and Elyse, one great grandchild - Blake, with one more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial with Military Rites for Jim Graettinger will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. Edward Powell and Deacon Dave Bablick will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Krueger Family Funeral Home on Monday evening beginning at 4:00 p.m., concluding with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in the spring at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
