James Herman

James "Sam" Herman, age 83, of Tomahawk, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Sam was born on August 12, 1930 in Tomahawk, to William & Alice (O'Connell) Herman. He married Marge Salewske on December 4, 1954 in Tomahawk. He was employed at O-I for 42 years, before retiring in 1992. He also enjoyed dairy farming & raising beef cattle. Sam enjoyed working in the woods, gardening, snowmobiling and relaxing on his front porch swing. Sam had served his country in the United States Coast Guard for 3 years. Sam is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Marge Herman, of Tomahawk. 3 Daughters: Sandra Theis Tomahawk Sally (Mike) Thayer Tomahawk Shirley (Shawn) Halverson Tomahawk He is further survived by 2 grandchildren: Shane Halverson & Carissa (Eric) Handrick, and a great-grand daughter: Leah. Memorial Service for Sam will take place on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tomahawk, at 11:00 AM. Friends may call on the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Memorials are appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
