JAMES ROBERT ECKERT
James R. Eckert, 67, Town of Worcester, died peacefully of natural causes on Saturday August 13, 2016, at his home in the Town of Worcester
He was born on June 21, 1949, in Milwaukee the son of Robert and
Bernice (Stein) Eckert.
He spent his early life and schooling in Milwaukee where he attended and graduated from Pulaski High School, Class of 1967.
Although he was reluctant to speak about it, his family is proud that he served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972. During that time completing one tour in Vietnam.
He was married to Shirley Conley on December 29, 1973, in South Milwaukee,Wisconsin
He was employed in construction as a roofer while living in the Milwaukee area..It was hard work but he was dedicated to supporting his family. After a couple of vacations in Phillips, Jim loved the area and moved his family here in 1984. Upon moving to Phillips he was employed in the shipping department at Marquip,Inc. until the time of his retirement on December 1, 2011, the birthday of his granddaughter, Brooke.
In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, lending a helping hand to those in need, cooking and baking, and especially spending time reading and studying the Bible.
He was a member of the Victory Christian Church, Phillips, and served on the church Board of Directors. He also led and taught various Bible studies over the years. He was active in the Phillips Golf League having won the Club Championship 3 years. In his younger days, Jim was a member of the Milwaukee Sport Club Soccer Team playing at the semi-professional level.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, Town of Worcester, by his Mother Bernice Eckert, Waukesha, by his 3 children: Brian (Stacy) Eckert, Barron, WI,, Jody Eckert and Justin (Sarah) Eckert, all of Phillips, by 11 grandchildren: Jacob, Anna, Mikenna, Brianna, Jared, Kaden, Kiandra, Gage, Ethan, Brooke, and Mataya, by 2 Brothers: Bob (Krisee) Eckert, Scottsdale, Az., and Tom (Debbie) Eckert, Oak Creek, WI., and by 2 sisters: Diane (Mike) Kostecki, the Villages, Fla., and Doreen Eckert, Greeley, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 .M. on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the Victory Christian Center, Phillips, with Pastor Carol Gabrielsen officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Phillips, with Military Honors by the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post #5778 and the Lane-Kreiling American Post #122, both of Phillips presiding.
Friends may call on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at the Victory Christian Church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests giving a donation to Victory Christian Center for the paving of the parking lot. A project that Jim was passionate about seeing completed
