Jeanette Ione (Cook) Root, age 99, of Hudson, WI, died Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Christian Community Home in Hudson.
She will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held in Yankton, SD, at a place and date to be determined. She lived in Yankton, near her daughter, from October 2003, until her move to Hudson in January, 2013.
Jeanette Ione Cook was born August 7, 1917, to Lucas and Florence (Squires) Cook in Mattoon, IL. She graduated from High Scoool in Hibbing, MN. She attended St. Paul Bible Institute, where she met her husband, in 1936. On June 10, 1939, she married Howard E. Root. Fout children were born to their Union. Howard died in 1983 due to complications from lukemia.
Jeanette was a pastor's wife and homemaker. Her home was always open for friends and church people. Everyone enjoyed her cooking and her homemade bread. Later in life she enjoyed a second career in sales.
Jeanette lived in many places during her life, but will be remembered in the Ogema area for the nine months in 1997 when she lived there with her don Pastor David Rood and his wife, Shirley.
She moved to a long-term-care facility in Hudson in January, 2013, to be, again, near her son and his wife.
Thankful for having shared Jeanette's life are her fout children: David (Shirley) Root of Hudson, WI, Darlene (Ernie) Hladik of Tabor, SD, Donald Root, Key Largo, FL, Gary Root of New Richmond, WI; daughter-in-law, Linda Root; bour grandchildren: Barbara (Barry) Anthony, Elizabeth Root, Linda Listener, Tanya Root; two great grandchilden: Nathan Anthony and Matthew Anthony.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Root; siblings Lois (Cook) Gowdy, Raymond Cook, and Betty Jean (Cook) Kirtchner.
