Jerome Lemmer

Jerome 'Jerry' M. Lemmer, age 66, Tomahawk, went home to the Lord on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born June 8, 1944 in Wausau, the son of the late Ralph and Margaret (Martin) Lemmer, Sr. He was united in marriage to Anna Mae 'Ann' Ruhoff on September 5, 1964 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marathon. He was employed with Wausau Papers for 41 years, retiring in January 2007. While employed at the mill, he was known for his pranks and jokes. For those currently employed at the mill, Jerry would want you to continue on with this tradition in his honor. Jerry was the ultimate sportsman, innovator, and comedian. He spent many years fishing the Willow Flowage, and guided many family and friends to his favorite fishing spots for which he named and shared stories about. He taught so many people about the love of fishing; his patience was unending. Jerry loved traveling to Alaska to visit his sons, daughter, grandchildren, and extended family and friends. His interest in Alaska came from his father, Ralph, who always wanted to visit the Last Frontier and see Denali. He spent his visits hunting, fishing, and snow machining. Jerry was completely awe-struck with all of God's majestic work in nature. Survivors include: Spouse Anna Son Daniel (Mary) Lemmer Wasilla, AK 4 daughters Rosalie (Leon) Matthiae Ringle, WI Renee (Jay) Mallek Rochester, MN DeeAnn Lemmer Rochester, MN Brenda (Ryan) Thul Minneapolis, MN 3 sisters Virginia (Jack) Ganser Mosinee Mary (Eugene) Freese Edgar Katie (Arthur) Nowak Edgar 6 brothers Ralph (Adinun) Lemmer, Jr. Edgar Charles (Vicky) Lemmer Edgar William (Rita) Lemmer Edgar Anthony (Lou Ann) Lemmer Edgar Paul (Lisa) Lemmer Edgar Christopher (Sarah) Lemmer Athens Jerry is further survived by 8 amazing grandchildren - Megan & Chase Matthiae, Abby Mallek, Aaron, Andy & Ashley Lemmer, Nora Thul, and one more on the way. He had an enormous impact on all of Ann's siblings, where he was a positive influence. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Mark and Robert and an infant sister. We are all better individuals today having the opportunity to know and love Jerry. His spirit will dance around the campfire flames and the Northern Lights of Alaska and the Willow. His motto was: Don't forget to "GRAB LIFE BY THE GILLS!" A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry Lemmer will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate.
