Jerry Hagar, age 83, formerly of Tomahawk, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at American Lutheran Home in Mondovi.
Jerry was born February 5, 1930 in Monroe, the son of C. Guy and Laura V. (Niffeneger) Hagar. He served in the United States Army as an aircraft mechanic from 1954 to 1956. He married Marion Schmid on October 14, 1956; she passed away on October 10, 2011. Jerry and Marion lived in Tomahawk for many years. They wintered in the Texas Gulf Coast later in life. Jerry worked as a heavy equipment operator for road construction contractors for many years in various cities in Wisconsin. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tomahawk, and belonged to the International Operating Engineers Local 139. He enjoyed farming, snowmobiling, hunting, music, traveling, and "the simple things in life". He loved nature and animals, especially his team of Belgians, Bell and Queen, and dogs, Pal and Shep.
Survivors include: sons, Rick (Teresa) Hagar, Hudson, Terry (Elizabeth) Hagar, Tomahawk; daughter, Debra (Vernon) Becker, Eleva. Jerry is further survived by twelve grandchildren: Zachary, Erica, Nicholas, Nathan Scott Hagar, Celia (Eric) Paczwa; Ben, Tim, Tera Jo, and Lee Becker; Ben, Anne, and Sarah Hagar; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and six siblings.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors for Jerry Hagar will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Mark Gass will officiate.
