Joan Suominen

Joan M. Suominen, age 83, 626 Anna St., Tomahawk, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Golden Living Center - Golden Age in Tomahawk. Joan was born March 25, 1929 in Chicago, the daughter of Vincent and Agnes Urba. She married Hugo Suominen on June 18, 1950 in Chicago. Joan was a receptionist in the Chicago area for many years with Airco. Joan lived most of her life in Elmhurst, Illinois, and was a Tomahawk resident since the early 90's. She enjoyed cooking, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. She was also a huge Chicago Bear and Cubs fan. Survivors include: Husband Hugo Suominen Tomahawk Children Carol (Richard) Cooper Portland, Oregon Bob (Chris) Suominen Dothan, Alabama Dennis (Ruth) Suominen La Grange Park, Illinois Joan is further survived by 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral Services for Joan Suominen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Ziemer will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow services at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.
