Joanne Barbara Ramsey

"Gone from us, but not our hearts."

Joanne Barbara Ramsey age 71 of Ballentine, SC formally of Minocqua, WI passed away May 26th at Palmetto Baptist Hospital in Columbia, SC with her daughter and son by her side.

Joanne was born February 13th 1944 in Berwyn, Illinois. She was the daughter of Joseph E. Ceresnak and Marie A. Ceresnak.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years Edward Charles Ramsey.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her son Kenneth Edward Ramsey of Ballentine, SC and her daughter Jennifer Marie Ramsey of Columbia SC.

Joanne was a graduate of J.Sterling Morton High School and Junior College in Cicero,Illinois.

She worked in bookkeeping and billing for the Teamsters Union in Chicago, Illinois. Later worked as a teachers aide in the Will County School District before moving to Minocqua, Wisconsin where, with her husband and her children, owned and operated the Pinewood Resort on Blue Lake for 30 years.

After moving to South Carolina, Joanne worked with the breast cancer survivors at Alala in Columbia, SC.

Mrs. Ramsey was a former member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Minocqua, WI. and St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Lac Du Flambeau, WI. She attended St. Peters Catholic Church in Columbia, SC.

Joanne was a girl scout and cadet scout leader in Minocqua, WI for many years. She was a member of the Blue Lake Preservation Association. A hospital volunteer and co-chairman of indirect care at Howard Young Medical Center. She also volunteered with the Wisconsin-Michigan Red Cross First Response Team.

In South Carolina, Joanne was a member of Palmetto Health Prime Times, Supporting Sisters and Palmetto Health Zoo Walkers. She was a volunteer for American Cancer Society Relay For Life, MS Walk, Palmetto Health Breast Cancer Walk, and Alala Cancer Society.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 31st at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, WI from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Funeral Mass will be Monday, June 1st at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lac du Flambeau, WI with a visitation from 9:30 AM till time of service.
Burial will take place at Minocqua Memorial Cemetery.
