Joanne E. Bartelt, age 80, 18 N. 6th Street, Tomahawk, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital in Weston.
Joanne was born March 30, 1932 in Manitowoc, the daughter of Lester and Mildred (Theisen) Jens. She married George Bartelt July 27, 1957 in Manitowoc; he passed away January 15, 2000. Joanne graduated from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, earning a degree in music. She came to Tomahawk in 1954 to teach music, was active with the Community Chorus, and directed the Tomahawk Cantata for 20 years. She was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was a very active member of the choir. Joanne enjoyed rosemaling, ceramics, painting, crafting, and playing bingo at Sara Park. She formerly enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Joanne is further survived by one granddaughter - Sara.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Joanne Bartelt will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Tomahawk.
