Joanne Louise (Daylor) Kirby

Joanne ”Joni” Louise Kirby, age 66, a resident of Woodruff, WI, passed away June 17, 2023, at Howard Young Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 15, 1956, in Brockton, MA. When Joni was young, she enjoyed life to the fullest, always singing and dancing. She took dance lessons which she used in her living room through the years. During her teenage years she would put the radio on and sing and dance in the den. In later years, she would play MTV and belt out the songs in her living room. She had a beautiful voice.

Joni moved to California as a young adult and attended barber school. She then moved back home and worked for a short period of time as a barber before she found her true calling: becoming a Certified Medical Assistant. During her career, Joni soaked up knowledge about the medical profession. She loved learning anything she could about her work.

She was a single mother who loved her son Peter fiercely. She worked her entire adult life to give him a better future. She was so very proud of him.  She spent many years in Florida before moving to Wisconsin to be closer to her brother and sister. She loved spending time with her family and friends, whom she could talk to for hours. Joni loved being close enough that they could drop by and see her anytime.

During the Covid pandemic, Joni adopted her beloved cats Cray Cray and Sissy. She loved her kitties. Their favorite thing to do was to snuggle up to their mom and hers was to spoil them and feed them lots of treats.

Joni was preceded in death by her father: Raymond J. Daylor; mother: Phyllis (Daylor) Sperry; stepfather: Robert Sperry Sr.; brother James Daylor; sister: Suzanne Daylor and stepsister: Karen Ewing. She is survived by her son: Peter Kelly (Biljana Dosen) Kirby Jr.; siblings: Kathy (James) Tapp, Maureen Daylor & (Laura Moore), Phyllis (Peter) Doucette, Brian Daylor, Robert (Nancy) Sperry, Barbara (Jeff) Thomas, Bonnie Daylor; nieces and nephews: Joshua, Jennifer, Jimmy, Nicole, Lisa, P.J., Danielle, Dylan, Katy, Heather, Stephanie, Corinne, Nicole, Kerri, Kevin and many more great nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held in October 2023 at Calvary Cemetery in Brockton, MA.

Joni was a light in so many people’s lives; may we all remember to share her light by sharing our stories of her with others.
