Minocqua

John P Dwyer, age 65 of Minocqua, WI; Our beloved Dad was called to eternal life on January 12, 2025. Dad was born on April 10th, 1959 in Woburn, MA. Dad graduated from Winchester High in 1977 and joined the Air Force. Dad was stationed in Fairchild AFB, WA where he met and married his wife Tammy, or Tam as he lovingly called her, in 1979.

They had two kids, Jessica and Patrick. Dad was then transferred and stationed in 1983 to Malmstrom AFB, Montana where he served the remaining years of his career. Dad retired and the family moved to Minocqua, Wisconsin in 1997, they moved back to Montana in 1999, but the call of Minocqua was too great and they finally settled back there in 2001, at which time dad started another career and adventure as the Lakeland Ice Arena Manager. Dad then retired in 2019.

Our Dad’s greatest passions were his family, friends, and hockey. Our Dad was always willing to take the time to help a child who wanted to become a better hockey player or skater. Our Dad loved to cheer for the Lakeland T-Birds as well as his beloved Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots and of course the Minnesota Wild.

Our Dad was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Dwyer in 2023.

Our Dad is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Tammy, daughter Jessica, son Patrick, daughter-in-law Ashley. Grandson lan, Granddaughter Lilly, brother Gary (Eric) dog Finn, cat Zammy, many brother in laws, sister in laws, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Our Dad will be fondly remembered for his witty and sometimes dark sense of humor, his generosity of time and a listening ear, his love of music especially Pink Floyd.

As per our Dad’s wishes, he will be cremated, and public memorial service will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lakeland Hawks Ice Arena.
