John "Jack" E. Monahan, age 90, of Tomahawk, passed away January 28, 2016 at his home on Lowery Road, surrounded by his family.
Jack was born on August 9, 1925 in Lomira, WI to Edward & Gertrude (Flood) Monahan. Jack lived most of his life in Wauwatosa. He served our country during WWII in the Merchant Marine and during Korean War in the Air Force. Jack was married to Louise Lowery on September 19, 1953 in West Allis; together they had five children. Jack worked for Wisconsin Electric and Power for 40 years, first as a lineman and later as a Forman. In 1991, Louise & Jack moved to Tomahawk. Louise preceded Jack in death in 2001. He was married to Marilyn Schneider in October of 2002. Jack was a voracious reader, a seasoned traveler and had a quick wit. He had traveled to numerous places including Europe, Ecuador and Venezuela. He loved music, participated in softball and golf, and loved bird watching. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk, and was a member of the choir and was a Eucharistic minister.

7 grandchildren- Peter & Shannon Heinz, Greg & Ian Johnson, Tim (Tara) Rushmer, Ali Rushmer and Brent Nishioka.
Jack is further survived by Marilyn's children and their families.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Louise, and his sister, Mary.
The Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors will take place for Jack Monahan at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tomahawk. Fr. Louis Reddy Maramreddy will officiate. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 10:00AM until the time of Mass at 11:00AM. Memorials are appreciated to St. Mary School or St. Mary Church.
