John (Jack/Jake) O. Lewis of Arbor Vitae, WI passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on October 23, 2018. Mr. Lewis was born December 31, 1925 in Stevens Point. He was the 5th. of 10 children born to George & Irene (Plattner) Lewis. He married Dorothy Landowski on October 13, 1945 & they were married for more than 70 years before she passed away in 2016. He is survived by 4 children: Cheryl (Tom) Bablitch, Minocqua, John (Karen) Lewis, Minocqua, Terry (Marilyn) Lewis, Plover & Richard (Joan Wimme) Lewis, Stevens Point and further survived by 8 grandchildren: Dan (Stephanie) Bablitch, Lake Mills, John (Laura) Bablitch, Rosholt, Amanda (Wesley) Wilder, Houston, Paul (Stacey) Lewis, Tennessee, Brian (Jenny) Lewis, Waupaca, Kevin (Sarah Zblewski) Lewis, Stevens Point, Marla (Dave) Habeck, Stevens Point, Adam (Renata) Lewis, Minnesota & 4 step Grandchildren: Erin (Jordan) Brost, Meghan Lipski, Robin Lipski & Matt Lipski & 13 great grandchildren & 2 step great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother in law Jerry (Phyllis) Landowski, Rosholt & sister in law F. Yvonne Lewis, Stevens Point & many special nieces & nephews. John had many good jobs through the years including driving oil tankers for Erickson Oil, First Superintendent of Utilities for the Village of Whiting where he received the' Operator of the Year Award for 1978 & Transfer Manager for the city of Stevens Point. Jack was a life long hunter & fisherman & loved coming up North to fish & boat & took his children, son in law, grandchildren, friends and many youngsters through the years deer hunting in central Wisconsin. In addition to his wife & parents he was predeceased by all 9 siblings, 5 sisters, twins Millie & Marie, Betty, Margie & Nina & 4 brothers, George, William, Jerry & Ralph. Special Thank yous to Dr. John Nemcec & friends Don Allen & Bob Butzer.
A celebration of his life will be held on December 7th from 4:00-8:00 at Nimsgern Funeral Home, 1025 Margaret St., Woodruff, WI.
A celebration memorial picnic for Jack & Dorothy will be held in the Summer of 2019 in Whiting. Date to be determined & announced in the Spring.
