John Swanson

John Swanson, age 83, of 1800 New York Ave, Superior Wisconsin passed away January 3, 2008 at St Francis Nursing Home in Superior. John was born October 9, 1924 in Phillips to Leola (Bjorklund) and John Levin Swanson. He graduated from Glidden High School in 1942. After graduation he moved to Ogema to help his grandparents with their farm. He later drove a milk route truck in Ogema. He moved to Tomahawk in 1951, and worked as a route salesman for Bake Rite Baking Company until his retirement in 1984. He married the former Margaret Mildred Albrecht on October 20, 1951 in Ogema. She preceded him in death, November 8, 1985. He married Barbara (Bennett) Wottrich July 28, 1990. She preceded him in death, December 24, 2007. John was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk, where he served on the Church council. He enjoyed wintering in Lake Havasu, AZ for the last 20 years and traveling. Family was important to John and was always there for his children. He enjoyed his boat, golfing, but most of all he enjoyed the grandchildren. Survivors include: 2 Daughters; Vicki (Tony) Garro of Superior, WI, Julie (John) Sigafus of South Range WI 1 Step Son John (Terri) Wottrich of Roseville, Minnesota 1 Step Daughter Karen (Dale) Thomas of Kingman, Arizona John is also survived by his brother Glen (Delores) Swanson of Pardeeville WI, grandchildren Molly Sigafus, Rebecca Sigafus, Jack Sigafus all of South Range, WI, Tracy Sigafus of Appleton, WI, Paul (Marylyn) Garro of Duluth, Kim (Lane) Gobler, Karen (Herb ) Love both of Hayward, WI, step grandchildren Tyler Wottrich, Susan Wottrich, and Ken Wottrich all of Roseville MN. Great Grand children: Eryk Garro, Alyssa Thompson both of Superior, Kole Gobler and Walker Garcia of Hayward and many nieces and nephews. John is further preceded in death by his parents, one son: Dennis Swanson, one Grandson: Brian Anthony Garro. Funeral Services for John Swanson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 from Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Ziemer will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the spring at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.
