John A. Taves, Jr., 79, of N10367 Horseshoe Road, Tomahawk, passed away October 11, 2009 at Golden Living Center- Riverview in Tomahawk following complications from a fall at home.
John was born on November 10, 1929 in Tomahawk to the late John Taves, Sr. and Pearl Wickham. John was a graduate of Charles City, Iowa High School and received his BS degree in Chemical engineering from Iowa State University. His professional career was spent in the paper making industry at various mills across Wisconsin including being the Superintendent of the Ashland, Wisconsin mill. John was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his workshop. He also spent many pleasurable hours observing and feeding his friends, the neighborhood chipmunks and squirrels.
