John K. Wanserski, age 74, of W4084 Chase Hill Drive, Irma, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital Critical Care Unit in Marshfield, Wisconsin following a brief illness. John was born July 20, 1934 in Knowlton, Wisconsin to the late Chester and Joyce Wanserski. He was first married to Rita Eiden and he later married Ann Malin on February 24, 1990 in the town of Harrison, Lincoln County. John lived his early years in the Stockton, Wisconsin area. He graduated from P J Jacobs High School in Stevens Point and received his BS from UW- Stevens Point. He later received his Masters degree in Social Work from UW Madison. John had formerly worked at Portage County Social Services, Mendota and Winnebago Mental Health Institutes, Wisconsin Dept. of Health and Social Services in Wisconsin Rapids and Rhinelander. He also had been employed at Lincoln Hills School and Catholic Social Services of Antigo. John had also facilitated a care givers support group for Lincoln County Commission on Aging. He was also a veteran of US Air Force. Survivors include: Wife, Ann 2 Sons, John (Carol) Wanserski Verona, WI Joseph (Shirley) Wanserski Plover, WI 2 Daughters, Kim (Michael) Sybers Owen, WI Lynn (Robert) Kinney Plover, WI Brother, Robert (Rose Marie) Wanserski Stevens Point, WI 4 Sisters, Nancy (Lloyd) Eiden Plover, WI Virginia Kozelek Stevens Point, WI Christine (William) Wanserski Stevens Point, WI Rebecca (Todd) Jirous Stevens Point, WI John is further survived by 9 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, 2 brothers (Gary & Richard), and a sister (Linda). Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Harrison. Rev. Ronald Serrao and Rev. Robert Monti will concelebrate the mass. The family will receive friends at the Krueger & Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again at the church Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Memorial appreciated to St. Augustine Parish Elevator Fund, Marywood Spirituality Center or the Stewardship of Small Family Farms Fund.
