Joyce Marie Berghammer, age 84, of Tomahawk, died Sunday, November 27, 2011, at her home. Joyce was born August 16, 1927, in Merrill to George and Marjorie (Van Riper) Peeters. She married Dean Berghammer July 26, 1945, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Merrill. He survives.
Joyce worked at Golden Age Nursing Home in Tomahawk for over 20 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years, was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomahawk, where she volunteered in the church's thrift cellar. Joyce was also a poll worker for the Town of Bradley for many years, and served as a 4-H leader. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, and ceramics. She and Dean enjoyed traveling and took many trips together, both within the U.S and abroad.

Joyce is further survived by 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim Berghammer; and brothers, Norbert and Harold Peeters.
The family would like to thank al a carte Care for their care of Joyce over the past several months, and the volunteers from Meals on Wheels.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Joyce Berghammer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 1st from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Krueger Family Funeral Home, with a Vigil Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Frances Catholic Cemetery in Merrill.
