Judith J. Allen

Judith J. Allen died Monday, March 27, 2023 in her home at Legacy of the North senior living community in Eagle River, WI.

Judy was born April 19, 1944 in the state of Kentucky.

She was raised by her parents Carl and Martha Chappie. She went on to attend the University of Minnesota, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. Judy married Tate Wayland, and together they raised their son Jonny Wayland in the suburbs of Chicago, IL.

In 1985, Judy married John Allen, and together they set out for the Northwoods of Wisconsin where they ran Ma Bailey’s Supper Club together. John played the piano and Judy sang, and they devoted 10 full years serving and entertaining locals and vacationers alike in their dream location nestled along one of the channels to Lake Minocqua.

Judy was very active in the community, serving as Supervisor for the Town of Woodruff. She was very involved with her church, the Community Presbyterian Church of Lac du Flambeau. And she sang for many years in both the church choir and the Campanile Community Chorus.

Judy is survived by her son Jonny (Jolene) Wayland, and her stepsons John (Graciela) Allen and Jeffrey (Kim) Allen, and her stepdaughter Julie Ruff; and by her grandchildren: Dylan Wayland; Darren, Sky and Devin Risingsun; Johnny and Gigi Allen, Ashley, Brittany and Justin Allen; and Monty and Cailin Ruff; and her dog Jazz.

Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, April 5 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Community Presbyterian Church of Lac du Flambeau, WI with Memorial Services at 12:00 pm and a reception immediately following the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Community Presbyterian Church of Lac du Flambeau in memory of Judith J Allen.
